The incredible city of Mumbai has plenty of beaches to enjoy and the locals, as well as tourists, are often seen enjoying them. Some of the beaches are noisy and always have something going on whereas others are quiet and perfect for relaxing. We have compiled what we feel are the best beaches in Mumbai so let us know if you think others should be included.

It is not just the tourists though, you will find locals as well as the occasional celebrity hanging out. You can relax on the sand, take a camel or horse ride or perhaps get stuck into a game of volleyball.
This is another famous Mumbai Beach and deserves its place in the best beaches in Mumbai. Despite it being famous, Versova beach is less crowded than Juhu Chowpatty. The name of the beach means ‘rest’ and this is where Chatrapati Shivaji Maharaj came to rest after the battles that he fought. Along the beach, you will find many large rocks that protect the building from being hit by the large waves.
Dadar Chowpatty Beach
This might not be the best of beaches because it has less sand than some of the others. It is also in some need of some loving care to restore it to the glory days. However, the views that you get of Mumbai’s iconic Bandra-Worli Sea Link mean that it has to be on here. It is not recommended that you go for a swim in the water but instead take heed of the peaceful silence and enjoy the view.
For most of the time the Mumbaikars like to enjoy the beaches at the north of the city but if you head down south you will find this gem. This is a peaceful and less well-known beach. It is at the southern end of Navi Mumbai and worth the trip. The beach is clean, quiet and offers some great views. enjoy the local fishing village whilst you are in the area.
If you like your beaches quiet then you should come here on a weekday. It will be almost deserted and you will not understand why. There is clean water that is perfect for relaxing in. The beach is close to a fishing village. You are also close to some rolling hills and paddy fields.
If you are in northern Mumbai then you might wish to check out Aksa Beach. It is one of the best beaches in Mumbai. Unfortunately, you should not swim here as the sand shifts and the currents are unpredictable. But there is a large sandy area for you to relax on and look endlessly into the Arabian Sea. There are a lot of hotels and cottages in the area that are perfect if you are looking to make a stay here for a few days.
One of the best beaches in Mumbai is Gorai Beach. The beach is located on Gorai Island. It is a simple beach that does not attract huge crowds but you can have a fun day out here. There are restaurants in the surrounding areas plus the chance to take a horse ride on the beach. Whilst you are in the area you should take a trip to Essel World Amusement Park.
You cannot have a compilation of the best beaches in Mumbai without including this place. The beach is famous with tourists and the white sand will show you why. The locals in the area earn their worth by fishing. People also refer to Manori Beach as ‘Mini Goa’ because of the atmosphere. You will see a lot of cashew trees in the area as well as beautiful greenery. You can get a ferry from the beach to Malad Marve.
