Jaipur is also called Pink City of India. It is the capital of the state of Rajasthan. Maharaja jai Singh II founded the city when he ruled from Amer. Jaipur is the tenth most populated city in the country. The city is also the part of the famous Golden Triangle of India which consists of Delhi and Agra. This five storied palace was built in the year 1799 by Maharaja Sawai Pratap Singh. It is among the most famous monuments of the city. The building is in semi-octagonal shape and boasts of 152 windows. Hawa Mahal was built keeping in mind the ease with which the royal ladies could see and enjoy the street processions. At present, the building serves as a museum too. It is also known as the Palace of the Winds.

One very significant step well or baori is Chand Baori Step Well as it is the biggest step well in the country. It has 13 levels which consist of 5,500 steps. The well is an architectural and historical marvel because of its intricate carvings and so this makes it a must visit place for history lovers. This historic landmark has also featured in the famous Hollywood flick, ‘The Dark Knight Rises’.
