Local Chennai’s residents visit this beach mostly as they prefer the quieter atmosphere due to the lack of tourists. The Elliot Beach has an important centre of attraction and that is the Schmidt Memorial. It was constructed as a commemoration of Karl Schmidt who was a Dutch sailor.
