If you wish to visit a place in Thailand that is not frequently visited by tourists, then you should choose Koh Mook. This is a large island compared to its closest islands, but it is a little bit smaller as compared to Koh Libong.
What is special about Koh Mook?
Koh Mook is particularly famous for unspoiled beaches and highly fertile natural surroundings. The locals are mostly Muslims, particularly those from an ancient community. Villagers employ long-tailed boats to reach the island from other places like the Kuan Tung Ku Pier, which takes about 15 minutes.
A dream island:
The Koh Mook Island continues to be the dream destination. This island belongs to the Trang region and it is a quiet place loved by tourists. It is the perfect place and tourists can easily hop around to neighbouring islands like Koh Ngai and Koh Kradan.
This island is located on the Western coast of Thailand in the Andaman Sea and it is pretty much unknown for most tourists visiting Thailand. In general, people visiting western Thailand choose places like Koh Lanta, Phi Phi, Krabi, and Phuket. But, the peaceful Koh Mook has many things to offer. If you are planning a vacation to this island this summer, you should know how to reach this place through Trang.
From Trang to Koh Mook:
As this island is a small one in Thailand, there is no airport here. This is why most people do not visit here just considering that the journey is difficult. This might be difficult when you choose a package trip, but when you visit individually, you can easily reach this island. There are travel agencies in Trang located close to the train station. You can reach by mini bus to Kuan Tung Ku Pier. From this place, you can take a local ferry to Koh Mook, which will take around 30 minutes of travel time.
Best time to visit:
You can visit this island all-round the year. The best time to visit is between November and April. In addition to Trang, you can also reach Koh Mook from Koh Lanta. Daily boat at the morning is operated from Koh Lanta that leaves from Ban Saladan Pier. It is also possible to reach this island from Krabi. From the month of November to April a ferry company opens every day to operate a ferry from Krabi. But, you cannot find this service in off seasons.
Who will hate spending time on a beach? Yes, I can hear you no one say. The Sivalai Beach stands as the greatest attraction for tourists on this island. The name of this beach comes from the resident Sivalai Beach resort here. From this place, you can get an attractive view of the mainland of Trang with Koh Mook and her mountains in the background. You can hang out with your friends on the Sivalai Beach and can stay in the resort. Other attractions are Charlie Beach, Emerald Cave, Sabai Beach and Baan Koh Mook. You can also take excellent day trips to neighbouring islands.
